Chairperson
Tracie Brooks is an experienced legal professional with more than 30 years of practice. She is admitted to practise law in Tasmania and Queensland, as well as in the High Court of Australia. Throughout her professional and community involvement, Tracie has developed extensive experience in organisational governance, leadership and the safeguarding of vulnerable people.
In addition to her legal career, Tracie has held senior leadership and governance positions within large membership-based organisations, including ten years as a Director and seven years as President of Gymnastics Queensland, an organisation representing more than 55,000 members. Her longstanding contribution to community and sporting organisations has also been recognised through Life Membership of both Gymnastics Queensland and PCYC Launceston. These experiences have given Tracie invaluable insight into leading diverse groups, establishing effective governance, managing competing perspectives and keeping organisations focused on their responsibilities and purpose.
As Chair of the EL Care Advisory Council, Tracie brings strong leadership, sound judgement and a highly organised and considered approach to the Council’s work. She is committed to ensuring the Council provides constructive, independent and effective guidance to EL Care, with particular regard to good governance, accountability and the protection of vulnerable people. Above all, Tracie embodies the Council’s commitment to ensuring older Australians are treated with dignity and respect and have access to safe, compassionate and high-quality care that enables them to live their best possible lives.
